1. Explain the contrast between 'classical' and 'fallibilist' conceptions of human knowledge and show why Gettier's problem only arises in the context of the latter.

2. Does the fact that we cannot see wavelengths in the ultraviolet suggest that there is a stable observational/theoretical distinction?

3. Explain and comment on Popper's dissolution of the problem of induction.

4. Should we agree that coherence theorists give a foundational role to certain epistemic principles?

5. Explain what Chalmers intends by "methodical changes in method". Does it underwrite the rationality of theory-change?

6. "There is no such thing as demonic possession; and in just the same way there is no such thing as knowledge of the external world." Discuss.

7. Would observing a black raven do any more than observing a white bear to support the hypothesis that all ravens are black?

8. Discuss the claim that Quine's holism can only give sensible results if some restrictions are placed on the items that can be revised?
