Provisionally I am using the Wednesday slot for tutorials; they will start in the third week of teaching, viz. September 19. The following is a schedule of topics/readings for our tutorial sessions:

  1. Tutorial 1 Sept. 19: Whiteley on epistemological strategies - Ed

  3. Tutorial 3: Bernard Williams on the absolute conception of the world - Kevin Layne; Lisa Best
  4. Tutorial 4: Hume On Miracles - Melody Robinson; Keisha Griffith; Natalie Charles
  5. Tutorial 5: Sellars on Foundationalism - Jean-Lucas Bradshaw; Fennella Best
  6. Tutorial 6: Quine "Two Dogmas of Empiricism" - Andrea Walker; Ron Hendrickson
  7. Tutorial 7: Hanson on seeing the sun rise - Paterson Armstrong; Sherry-Ann Murray
  8. Tutorial 8: Popper on the solution to the problem of induction and Okasha on Hume's argument about induction -  Cleopatra Gilkes
  9. Tutorial 9: Haack on expert evidence in law courts - Angela Boyce; Paula Hunte-Cox
  10. Tutorial 10: Feyerabend on "anything goes" and the disestablishment of science - Alain Barrow; Phyllis Blades
  11. Tutorial 11: Thagard on Astrology - Emerson Haynes; Monique Lescott; Chloe Sandford

Please let me know as soon as possible which of you will be taking each topic.  To the extent that it is possible I would like two people to tackle each week's work, one presenting a positive account of the ideas in the reading and the other trying to pick holes in them (for tutorial 8 that is already done for you by my giving two differing views).
