Beyond The Solutions: Competitiveness through Global Value Chains, Clustering and Innovation

The Caribbean Centre for Competitiveness (CCfC) invites submissions of papers and presentations for its 2nd Caribbean Competitiveness Forum, ā€œBeyond the Solutions: Competitiveness through Global Value Chains, Clustering and Innovationā€, to be held at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica, March 18 ā€“ 19, 2014.

The 2nd Caribbean Competitiveness Forum will bring together participants from the public and private sectors, academia and non-governmental institutions. It will be a practical approach to showcasing regional success stories from which lessons and recommendations can emerge to support the growth of the wider sectors and by extension the countries of the Region.


The Forum will focus on sharing case studies on regional clusters and value chains in four sectors identified as important to most Caribbean countries: Services, Agro-Processing, Manufacturing and Emerging (such as information and communications technology; renewable energy, and niche tourism).

About the CCfC

The Caribbean Centre for Competitiveness (CCfC ) is a special project of The University of the West Indies Office of Planning and Development and is located on the St. Augustine Campus. The CCfC was officially launched by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, in March 2011. For the first two years, the Centre is co-funded by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom. It was operationalized in September 2011 with the appointment of its first Executive Director Mrs. Indera Sagewan-Alli.
