‘Celebrating the Creative Imagination in Cave Hill’s First Fifty!’

March 22 to April 25, 2013

The End of Year Presentation of the Errol Barrow Centre for Imagination

The Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (EBCCI) of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, promotes the making, study and appreciation of the arts. It continues to be a focal point for the Creative Arts and innovation from local, regional and international sources. In upholding its mission, we support our student portfolio season and present a series of events highlighting the multiplicity of cultures and many peoples of the Diaspora in the ‘The  Diaspora Arts Festival’. Under the theme, ‘Celebrating the Creative Imagination in Cave Hill’s First Fifty!’, the four week-long festivity in the arts will showcase; presentations of the students of the Bachelor of Fine Arts in their end of year presentations, faculty and guest artists and include presentations in dance, theatre and music, film screenings and an art exhibition. As Cave Hill celebrates its first fifty and the EBCCI its first five, this year’s end of year season opens with recently conferred Doctor of Letters Dr. Anthony ‘Gabby’ Carter in Concert in Cave Hill Celebrates with Gabby. This musical treat will feature performances by young triple threat Johari Taitt, the Cavite Chorale and the 1688 Orchestra under the direction of Stefan Walcott, student of the Cave Hill Campus and Lecturer in Music of the EBCCI. Gabby fans and music lovers will be thrilled with the eclectic and whimsical presentations of Gabby and interpretations of Gabby Classics never heard before!

Cave Hill Celebrates with Gabby, the festival launch, will be held on March 22, 2013; at 7p.m. Tickets are available from the EBCCI and the UWI Bookshop. Early Bird Tickets are $25 General Admission, Students with ID, $10, and on the night of the show, tickets will be on sale $30 and $20 respectively.

The event promises to be a special showcase of Gabby in rare form, his talent showcased in all musical genres with tributes of equally high calibre. Not a show to be missed!
